Happy Tuesday friends and Happy May (also Happy Cinco de Mayo!) - wow lots to celebrate today. To celebrate, we are going to continue with our Summer Sourdough Recipe Series where every Tuesday (leading up to summer) I’m sharing some of my favorite sourdough recipes to make and enjoy during the warm, summer months.
In case you have missed the last two recipes, they were:
Strawberry Cream Cheese Danishes
And today, we are making Strawberry Thumbprint Cookies…
These Sourdough Thumbprint Cookies are soft, buttery and the perfect treat for you and the mama(s) in your life. They are also smaller than regular cookies, so you don’t feel as guilty if you indulge in a few (or five!).
These cookies are rolled into balls, then gently pressed in the center with your thumb of course - hence where the name comes from. That indentation gets filled with something sweet - in this case strawberry jam, but you can use a different flavored jam or chocolate if you wish!
You’ll love this recipe because it’s simple and it’s a great way to use up some of your sourdough starter (or discard) if you have extra on hand.
I passed some out to my neighbors so they could be my taste testers, and everyone gave two thumbs up! One even said they were the best thing I’ve made yet!
