Happy final Monday of June beautiful people! Is anybody else dealing with dreadful summer heat like we are here in south Florida? Holy moly, at first I thought it was because we were away for three weeks so my mind and body just hadn’t acclimated to it yet…but it’s been a week now and I have decided there is no acclimating at this point - it’s just bloody hot!

I had my first bake day in over three weeks on Friday and if you’ve been following me for awhile now you know that I recently purchased a used Simply Bread oven which lives in our garage. Let’s just say it’s not super fun running a 400 pound oven at 500F inside a garage that’s not fully insulated. Something I’m trying to be better about is baking early in the morning or later in the evening - we all know that your oven can heat up your kitchen (or garage in my case) quickly. That’s why I prefer to bake early in the morning or in the evening when the outside temperature is lower (although not much lower here in Florida).

And now, for one of my favorite summer cookie recipes…

These Sourdough Thumbprint Cookies are a customer and family favorite in the bakery! They are soft, buttery and topped with strawberry jam, making them the perfect lil’ bite sized treat!
