Hi friends! Happy Monday! Also, happy 15th of December! Hard to believe, isn’t it?
With Christmas only 10 days away, I thought it would be fun to put together a Holiday Gift Guide - for the beloved baker in your life (even if that’s you!). And I promise when I say this, I try to be a minimalist (even when it comes to baking!), so these are ALL things that I have grown to love during my two years of baking sourdough bread. I don’t like having a bunch of “stuff” around, but these specific items, I’m not sure how I ever lived without!
Wire Monkey Bread Lames - my favorite is the goose lame, but they have a lot to choose from so take a look and see which one you like best.
Doap - this is one of those things you never knew you needed until you get one then you wonder how you ever lived without it! It gets sticky dough off of your hands almost instantly! They come in an assortment of fun colors and are perfect for your favorite baker. Do keep in mind that the company owner Joshua is a one man show who makes each of them by hand, so it can take a few weeks for your Doap to arrive. But trust me, it’s worth the wait! Use code MANDY for a discount at checkout.
Meema Aprons - I prefer the waist aprons. I am the messiest baker around and for a long time, I refused to wear an apron, that was until I discovered Meema Aprons! These eco-friendly aprons are comfortable and they are made of recycled material (win-win). This would be a perfect gift for that earth-lovin’ baker in your life. Code MANDY10 will get you a discount.
Bulka Wood Pulp Bannetons - my absolute favorite wood pulp banneton! You can find them in a variety of sizes and shapes so shop your heart out. Use Code MANDY for 10% off.
Lanon Heat Resistant Gloves - the best gloves on the market! These gloves have saved me from several burns over the last two years and I’m forever grateful. Code MANDY15 will get you a discount at checkout - any baker would love to get these as a gift!
Sunrise Flour - single source, organic, heritage flours using a renewed milling technology from the 1930’s called the Unifine mill. It is a single pass, high velocity impact mill. Instead of grinding the grain, the mill shatters it into very minute particles, a technology that produces a super-fine and fluffy flour.
This is one of the best flours on the market. And the company is truly incredible. I will never forget when I had a power issue and unfortunately lost a bunch of my dough, this company was kind enough to send me 25 pounds of fresh flour. They have hearts of gold and their product isn’t so bad either. :) This would make an incredible gift for any baker. I love their whole wheat flour and their bread flour, but you can’t go wrong with anything!
Zassenhaus Bread Slicer - y’all, I went over two years without a bread slicer and I don’t know what I was thinking!!! This thing is amazing. It slices your bread so quickly and easily and it you can adjust it to your desired thickness. It’s perfect for home bakers and bread lovers.
My Sourdough for Beginner’s Guide: this is the book I wish I had as a beginner sourdough baker. I know because I created it myself! Plus, I have it on sale through the holidays, so snag a copy now! This is a PDF but can be printed on any standard printer.
It contains:
Sourdough Principles: what makes sourdough a healthier and tastier choice than traditional breads. Learn about basic sourdough terms and tools.
Sourdough Starter: Follow along with detailed instructions for making and maintaining your starter.
Practical Tips: Troubleshooting common issues and frequently asked questions.
Sourdough Recipes: Explore some of my favorite sourdough recipes:
Classic Sourdough
Chocolate Sourdough
Lemon Blueberry Sourdough Scones
Chocolate Chip Sourdough Scones
Sourdough Bagels
Sourdough Focaccia
Sourdough Sandwich Bread
Sourdough Zucchini Bread
Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls
Bosch Mixer: This is a little more of an investment, but I absolutely love my NutriMill Mixer. I am able to mix 5-6 loaves of sourdough at a time (something my Kitchen Aid could NEVER do), so if the baker in your life is still using his/her Kitchen Aid, or mixing multiple loaves at a time, this is a great gift for them - their arms will thank you! Code MANDY20 will get you 20% off!
Dehydrated Sourdough Starter: this is the perfect gift for that baker who has been hesitant to try sourdough because they fear making their own starter or maybe they did try making their own and failed.
I hope this little Baker Gift Guide helps you find the perfect gift for the baker in your life. And if you need some more ideas, head to my Amazon Store - I have a lot of my favorite tools on there.
Later this week I am going to share my Chocolate Sourdough Recipe - perfect to bring to a holiday gathering.
Happy Baking!
